The health and aged care industry covers workers in hospitals, medical, pathology and allied health services, aged and other residential care. 94% of workers in this industry are covered for workers compensation. Between 2009 and 2010 14% of all serious injury claims were made by workers in this industry. In real terms this equates to 48 employees each day requiring one or more weeks off work due to a work related injury.
